YOU, YOUR GLORY, AND THE IDOLS IN YOUR LIFE — PART 3

KEY TEXT: Exodus 20:3 KJV – “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Many believers do not bow to carved images, yet they have erected invisible idols in their hearts. Anything that takes the place of God in your life becomes your idol. It may not be a statue, but it may be your ambition, your position, your reputation, or even your gift. When your glory becomes more important to you than God’s glory, you are already in danger. God will not share His glory with any idol. As written in Isaiah 42:8, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.”

Some have made ministry, human approval, and money their idols. You must examine yourself. Are you serving God, or are you serving what God has given you? Remember Romans 12:1 calls us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. A sacrifice does not compete with God; it surrenders completely.

Your glory is safest when it is laid at the feet of Christ. The moment you begin to protect your image more than your relationship with God, you gradually lose spiritual ground. Let God be first. Let His will be supreme. Let His approval matter more than human applause. The rapture we speak about daily will not accommodate idols in the heart. Purify your heart. Remove every substitute for God. Let Him alone sit on the throne of your life.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, search my heart and remove every hidden idol contending with You in my life. Help me to place You first in all things, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Psalm 139:23–24 – “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, expose and destroy every hidden idol in my heart, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2. Lord, I surrender my ambition, reputation, and achievements to You; take Your rightful place in my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. Holy Spirit, help me to seek God’s approval above human applause, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

4. Father, preserve my glory by keeping my heart fully devoted to You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
