YOU, YOUR GLORY, AND THE IDOLS IN YOUR LIFE

KEY TEXT: Proverbs 16:18 KJV– “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”

Some people, by their own actions, have handed over their glory to the devil. How? The Bible says, “Pride goeth before destruction.” The day you exalted yourself above measure was the day you opened the door for the enemy to tamper with your glory. You know the prideful life you may be living. You know the moments you lifted yourself up in your heart, expecting everyone to bow before you. But the Scripture says in Proverbs 29:23, “A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.”

Humble yourself before the Lord. Esteem others better than yourself. Let us swallow our pride and begin to love one another sincerely. Satan cannot take your glory when your life is lived to glorify God. It is unfortunate that we are running the same race, yet sometimes with divided minds. Let us humble ourselves. Let us love genuinely. Let us not say, “I love you” to someone’s face and yet speak against them behind their back.

Allow peace to reign in your heart, as you allow peace to reign in others. Let us give one another room to live in peace. As Ephesians 4:2 says, “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love.”

The Bible also tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:14–17, “Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry…” What is idolatry? It is not only carving an image and bowing to it. Anything that takes the place of God in your heart is an idol. That evil heart you refuse to surrender can become your idol. Pride can be an idol. Bitterness can be an idol. Self-exaltation can be an idol. Flee from it now. Work on yourself. The rapture we are talking about is nearer than ever.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, I desire to be the way You want me to be from now on. Plant in me the genuine heart of a true believer. Remove every form of pride and hidden idolatry from my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Philippians 2:3 KJV– “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, expose and uproot every seed of pride operating in my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

2. Lord, restore every glory I have lost through arrogance, disobedience, or self-exaltation, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

3. Holy Spirit, teach me true humility and help me to esteem others better than myself, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

4. Lord, remove every hidden idol from my heart and make my life a true reflection of Your glory, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen
