VIRTUES OF CONTENTMENT (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: PSALM 37:16 KJV: “A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.”

True contentment is not found in having more, but in appreciating the eternal value of what God has already provided. A righteous life, even with little material possession, is far richer in peace and joy than a life filled with worldly riches but void of godliness. LUKE 12:15

Contentment flows from a heart that sees value in righteousness, not riches. Many pursue wealth at the cost of their soul, yet the Scripture reminds us: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36). The contented believer understands that God's presence and approval far outweigh the temporary allure of possessions.

Moreover, contentment strengthens our relationship with God by aligning our desires with His will. It teaches us to delight in the Lord, to live with open hands and surrendered hearts, trusting that He is our portion and our reward. PHILIPPIANS 4:19

APPLICATION:

  • DELIGHT IN GOD'S PRESENCE: Make time for worship and fellowship with Him.
  • EMBRACE SIMPLICITY: Let go of unnecessary wants and focus on eternal values.
  • BE GENEROUS: Contentment frees us to give joyfully, knowing that God is our source.

“Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.”PROVERBS 16:8 KJV

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, teach me to value righteousness over riches, and to find true satisfaction in You. Help me let go of worldly striving and walk in joyful contentment, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

PROVERBS 4:23 KJV: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”
