THE VIRTUE OF CONSECRATION (PART 4)

KEY TEXT: Joshua 3:5 KJV – “And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for to morrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”

PREPARE FOR WONDERS: Consecration is often the prerequisite for divine visitation and supernatural manifestations. God does not pour His holy wonders into unclean vessels. Before the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River, Joshua commanded them to sanctify themselves. Why? Because God was about to move, and He required a clean environment to operate in. The same applies today—those who desire to see God's wonders must first prepare themselves in holiness and separation.

READY, NOT REQUESTING: Many believers want God to use them powerfully but are not willing to be purified. God is more interested in our readiness than in our requests. “Be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord.” — Isaiah 52:11 KJV. The Spirit of God does not dwell in a vessel that is mixed with worldliness, pride, or secret sin. Consecration is what makes the believer spiritually sensitive and usable in God’s hands. Without it, you remain spiritually dull and vulnerable to deception.

DISCIPLINE OF THE SANCTIFIED: Consecration also empowers the believer to live victoriously over sin and temptation. When your life is set apart for God, there are places you simply cannot go, conversations you cannot engage in, and pleasures you must forsake. The Apostle Paul declared, “I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection…” — 1 Corinthians 9:27 KJV. This is not legalism—it is the discipline of the sanctified. A consecrated life is one under divine order, not driven by the flesh but led by the Spirit.

PRAYER:

Lord, I desire to see Your wonders in my life. Help me to sanctify myself and walk in purity. Cleanse my heart, refine my thoughts, and purge my ways. I choose to live for You alone, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

2 Chronicles 29:5 KJV: “Sanctify now yourselves, and sanctify the house of the Lord God of your fathers, and carry forth the filthiness out of the holy place.”
