THE MOTIONS OF SIN (PART 5)
KEY TEXT: Hebrews 3:13 KJV: “But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

THE HARDENING EFFECT OF SIN: One of the most dangerous outcomes of the motions of sin is the hardening of the heart. When sin is repeatedly tolerated, it begins to reduce spiritual sensitivity and weakens conviction. A believer who once felt strong remorse for wrongdoing may gradually begin to excuse it, and this is a sign of spiritual danger. (1 Timothy 4:2)
Sin has a deceitful nature; it makes wrong look acceptable and gradually numbs the conscience. When the heart is hardened, the voice of God becomes less effective in guiding a person, and spiritual correction is often ignored. This is why believers must not allow sin to remain unconfessed or unchecked in their lives. (Ephesians 4:18-19)
God desires that His children remain tender-hearted, responsive to His Word, and quick to repentance. Continuous fellowship with God through prayer and the Word keeps the heart soft and spiritually alive. But persistent sin leads to distance from God and reduces the hunger for righteousness. (Psalm 66:18)
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, deliver me from every form of hardness of heart. Keep my spirit sensitive to Your voice and help me to walk in constant repentance and obedience in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.
REFLECTION:
Ezekiel 36:26 KJV: “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you…”
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Father, deliver me from every spiritual hardness and restore a tender heart within me in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
2. Lord Jesus, make my heart sensitive to Your voice and quick to obey Your instructions in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
3. Father, let every deceitful influence of sin in my life be destroyed completely in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
