THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HEART (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Jeremiah 17:9-10 KJV: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart."

THE DECEITFUL HEART: Be aware that your heart can deceive you into thinking you're doing the right thing, even when God knows it's wrong. An unregenerate heart is the source of all evil that comes out of a person. Sanctification can be lost when an individual becomes careless and stops making an effort to preserve the purity of their heart. If your heart has been washed, guard it with all diligence, for evil can arise from it if not careful. (John 2:24-25)

THE TWO KINDS OF HEART: Scripture describes two types of hearts: one filled with good, purity, trust, and wisdom, and the other filled with foolishness, corruption, deceit, hardness, pride, and wicked schemes. We must be careful what we allow into our hearts, only accepting what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy. (Philippians 4:8)

THE CIRCUMCISED HEART: God seeks a circumcised heart, a broken and contrite heart, sorrowful over sin committed, not a heart of pride. It is this seeking after the heart of God that God commends. The Lord said, "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will." So therefore be a persons after God’s heart, knowing that the investment you make in having a good heart will earn you eternal life at last. (Acts 13:22)

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, help me invest in the upkeep and betterment of my heart, that my character and actions may show forth the light of God in me, in Jesus Christ's mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

Ezekiel 36:26 KJV: "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."

PRAYER POINTS:

1.Heavenly Father, search my heart and reveal every hidden sin, wrong motive, deception, and ungodly desire within me. Purge my heart by Your Spirit and make me sincere and upright before You, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

Jeremiah 17:9-10 KJV

2.Lord Jesus, give me a new heart and a steadfast spirit. Remove every trace of pride, hardness, rebellion, and wickedness from my life, and help me to continually walk in holiness and obedience to Your Word, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

Ezekiel 36:26 KJV

3.Father, make me a person after Your own heart like David. Let my thoughts, desires, decisions, character, and actions align with Your perfect will, and help me to guard my heart diligently until the end, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.
