THE DANGER OF DISCOURAGEMENT (PART 4)
KEY TEXT: Proverbs 13:12 KJV – “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: Discouragement is a thief of hope. It often causes believers to lose sight of God’s promises and doubt His faithfulness. Abraham waited for the promise of Isaac for many years, yet he staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief (Romans 4:20). When discouragement steals hope, the heart begins to murmur against God as the Israelites did in the wilderness (Numbers 21:4–5). Beloved, do not let temporary delay make you lose eternal hope. Our God is faithful and cannot lie (Titus 1:2).
YOUR SPIRITUAL CONDITION: A believer without hope is a believer close to defeat. When discouragement kills hope, faith is also weakened because faith and hope are connected (Hebrews 11:1). A hopeless believer will stop expecting God to answer prayers, stop believing in His promises, and eventually give up. But the Word of God says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). Beloved, don’t let the enemy bury your hope—keep standing on the promises of God.
THE VOICE OF YOUR CONSCIENCE: When hope is lost, the conscience often whispers lies that God has abandoned you or that your case is beyond redemption. This is a dangerous zone because it makes many walk away from God. Judas Iscariot, after betraying Christ, gave room to hopelessness, and instead of repenting like Peter, he ended his life (Matthew 27:5). Child of God, no matter how dark the night, never allow discouragement to destroy your hope. Remember, Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27).
PRAYER:
My Lord and my Savior, restore my hope in You. Let not discouragement rob me of the joy of trusting in Your promises. Strengthen me to hold on until the end, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.
REFLECTION:
Romans 15:13 KJV – “Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.”
