STOP AND EXAMINE YOURSELF DAILY

KEY TEXT: 2 Corinthians 13:5 KJV: "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD: Examine your relationship with God. Are you drawing closer to Him or further away? Examine if idols have crept into your life and taken your worship. Are you still doing the work of God with the same joy, or just dragging yourself to do it? Is your zeal still burning or has it quenched? If the Lord takes you home or the rapture happens, what marks you right and what marks you wrong? — James 4:8

YOUR SPIRITUAL CONDITION: We need to examine ourselves and ask: what is my spiritual condition? Am I hot or cold in my fire for God? Am I slowly dying spiritually? What is the state of my soul? Am I who God wants me to be spiritually? What are the weak points I have in my life as a believer, and how are they destroying my fellowship with God and others? Are there things I’ve allowed back in that I gave up when I first gave my life to Christ? If we don’t examine ourselves now, Satan and his demons are ready to expose us later. — Acts 24:16

THE VOICE OF YOUR CONSCIENCE: What is your conscience reminding you of? Maybe you silenced your conscience when it was reproving you. Maybe you ignored it when it was smiting you. A conscience can be dead. If your conscience doesn’t speak again, that is a danger zone. Ask God for a revived conscience. Examine your words—do they justify or condemn you? The words we said in anger, in distress, even against ourselves or our children—ask God to reveal them and have mercy. — Matthew 12:36

PRAYER:

Lord, help me to examine myself, and help me not ignore my weak points. Bring me back to where I need to be with You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

1 Corinthians 11:28 KJV: “But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.”
