QUIET TIME, AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Psalm 63:5-6 – “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.”

Quiet time should be a moment to reflect on the promises of God and to examine oneself through the Word of God. Don’t use quiet time to lament, asking, “Why is my life so miserable? Why is my life like this?” No, that is not the quiet time I am talking about. It is a time of spiritual check-up. Quiet time is a time of studying. You cannot study in a noisy environment or when you are a noisemaker. 2 Corinthians 13:5

It is also a time of prayer, a time of bringing your petition before God. Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a practical example. He cried to the Lord concerning the cup that He was going to drink of His vicarious death. Luke 22:41-42

Quiet time is a time for you to re-strategize. It is for you to go back to your drawing board and ask yourself vital questions such as, “Is my prayer life still effective?” There is no way you can be mighty or a tool in the hands of God when you don't observe your quiet time. That is why sometimes God cannot speak to us because we are too noisy. Psalm 119:148

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father, take away every spirit of busy-doing-nothing from me. Take away every spirit of procrastination and grant me that spirit to do the right thing at the right time, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

REFLECTION:

Matthew 14:23 – “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”

PRAYER POINTS FOR SPIRITUAL REFLECTION AND GROWTH

1. Father Lord, give me the grace to make my quiet time a moment of true spiritual reflection and self-examination; help me to align my life with Your Word daily, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2. Lord Jesus Christ, silence every noise—physically and spiritually—that prevents me from hearing Your voice during my quiet time; make my heart still before You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. Heavenly Father, deliver me from every spirit of busyness and distraction that hinders me from spending quality time with You; help me to value Your presence above all else, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

4. Lord Jesus, as I spend time alone with You, reveal areas in my life that need correction and empower me to walk in spiritual excellence and obedience, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

5. My Father and my maker, as I pray now, let every quiet time I observe become a moment of renewal, divine direction, and empowerment; strengthen my prayer life and make me an effective vessel in Your hands, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
