PRESENT BUT NOT ACTIVE (PART 4)
KEY TEXT: John 15:5 KJV – “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”

THE ROOT OF SPIRITUAL INACTIVITY: Spiritual inactivity is often not the absence of church attendance, but the absence of intimacy with Christ. Many believers are present in services, yet disconnected in fellowship. When a believer loses intimacy with God, spiritual strength declines and fruitfulness dries up. Activity without abiding leads to exhaustion, while abiding produces effortless fruit. Divine life flows only through consistent connection with Christ. (Psalm 63:1; Hosea 6:1)
THE CONSEQUENCES OF BROKEN FELLOWSHIP: A broken relationship with God results in prayerlessness, weak convictions, and compromised living. When fellowship is neglected, spiritual sensitivity is lost and discernment becomes dull. Jesus made it clear that fruitfulness is impossible outside of abiding. A believer who is present but not connected will soon become inactive and unfruitful. (Isaiah 59:2; 1 John 1:6–7)
RESTORING INTIMACY FOR SUSTAINED FRUITFULNESS: Intimacy with God is restored through repentance, devotion to the Word, and consistent prayer. As fellowship is restored, spiritual vitality returns and fruitfulness is renewed. God does not demand fruit first; He demands connection. When intimacy is restored, productivity becomes natural. (Acts 2:42; Isaiah 40:31)
PRAYER:
Father, restore my intimacy with You. Reconnect me to the source of life and make me continually fruitful, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
REFLECTION:

2. O Lord, remove every spiritual distraction weakening my connection with You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
3. Holy Spirit, revive my prayer life and hunger for God’s Word, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
4. Father, let my life produce lasting fruit that glorifies You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
