PRESENT BUT NOT ACTIVE (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: James 2:17 KJV – “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

THE REALITY OF DEAD FAITH: One of the clearest evidences of being present but not active is possessing faith that does not produce works. The Bible makes it plain that faith without corresponding action is dead. Many believers profess faith, attend church services, and speak Christian language, yet their faith does not influence their conduct, decisions, or obedience to God’s Word. Genuine faith is living, dynamic, and expressive. Where faith is alive, action will naturally follow. When faith is inactive, spiritual life gradually declines. (Hebrews 11:6; Titus 1:16)

THE CONSEQUENCES OF INACTIVE FAITH: Inactive faith weakens spiritual authority and limits divine manifestations. When faith is not exercised, it becomes dormant, resulting in unanswered prayers, spiritual stagnation, and vulnerability to temptation. Jesus could not do many mighty works in Nazareth because of unbelief. Faith must be activated to experience God’s power. A believer who is present but not active in faith will struggle to see consistent victories. (Matthew 13:58; Hebrews 5:12–14)

ACTIVATING FAITH THROUGH OBEDIENCE:

Faith is activated when a believer acts on God’s Word. Obedience gives life to faith and invites divine backing. Every instruction obeyed strengthens faith and releases results. The servants at Cana witnessed the miracle because they obeyed Jesus’ instruction without argument. When obedience meets faith, God moves mightily. (John 2:5; Joshua 1:8)

PRAYER:

Father, deliver me from dead and inactive faith. Empower me to live out my faith through obedience and righteous action, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV –

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. My Father and my God, uproot every form of dead faith operating in my life, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2. O Lord, empower me by the Holy Ghost to activate my faith through obedience, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. Heavenly Father, let my faith begin to produce visible fruits and testimonies, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

4. Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen my inner man to walk consistently by faith and not by sight, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
