THE NEED FOR REKINDLING: Many believers once walked in great zeal for the Lord but later drifted into coldness due to sin, distractions, or spiritual negligence. The Lord in His mercy always calls His children back to Himself. Rekindling first love begins with acknowledging where one has fallen and turning back in repentance. Christ is ever ready to restore any heart that sincerely returns (Revelation 2:5; Lamentations 3:40).

THE POWER OF THE HOLY GHOST: It is the Spirit of God that ignites and sustains passion in a believer. No one can burn for Christ by human effort alone. The Holy Ghost revives the weary soul, sets the heart aflame, and empowers the believer to love Christ above all else. By praying for fresh fire and yielding to the Spirit, first love can be fully restored (Romans 8:26; 2 Timothy 1:6-7).

PRACTICAL STEPS TO RESTORATION: Rekindling love for Christ requires discipline and intentionality. Daily fellowship in prayer, meditation on God’s Word, fasting, and obedience renews intimacy with Christ. Surrounding oneself with godly fellowship and keeping the eternal reward in view are also vital. Every believer must guard against spiritual laziness and press into God daily to keep the fire burning (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 119:9-11; Hebrews 10:24-25).

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, I repent of every coldness of heart and I ask for Your mercy. Rekindle my first love, fill me with fresh fire, and let my zeal for You never fade, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

2 Timothy 1:6 KJV: “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
