KEEP YOUR FIRST LOVE FOR CHRIST UNINTERRUPTED (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Matthew 24:12-13 KJV: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

LOVE WAXING COLD: One of the greatest signs of the end times is the diminishing love for Christ among believers. Many who once prayed fervently, evangelized boldly, and stood firmly in holiness have allowed iniquity and worldliness to quench their first love. The increase of sin around us has led many to compromise, forgetting that Jesus Christ demands enduring love until the very end (1 John 2:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 2:3).

THE VALUE OF FIRST LOVE: Your first love is precious because it keeps your Christian journey genuine and fruitful. It fuels your hunger for righteousness and keeps your eyes on Christ rather than the world. Without it, service becomes empty and worship becomes vain. The Lord counts first love as the true measure of loyalty and faithfulness (Psalm 42:1-2; Romans 12:11).

REKINDLING THE FIRE: The good news is that lost first love can be rekindled. By repentance, confession, and a fresh consecration to God, the Holy Ghost can reignite passion within the heart (Acts 3:19). Believers must constantly examine themselves to ensure that their fire for Christ is burning brighter and not growing dim. Daily communion with Christ, walking in obedience, and remembering His great sacrifice on the cross are sure ways to keep love alive (2 Corinthians 13:5; 1 Peter 1:13-16).

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of lukewarmness. Rekindle my first love, and keep me burning with unbroken zeal for You till the end, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

Romans 12:11 KJV: “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.”
