IDENTIFICATION THROUGH YOUR FRUIT

KEY TEXT: MATTHEW 7:17 KJV: “Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.”

What did Jesus Christ mean when He said, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them”? He meant that our fruits are our actions and reactions by which men would know whether or not we are of God. King Solomon said, “Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.” If a child can be known by their deeds, how much more the adults? What is the fruit of those deeds? Do they portray us as children of God, or are we camouflaging? Proverbs 20:11

Brethren, this Christian race we are in largely boils down to actions and reactions. How? Abraham, through his actions, proved himself as an example of a faithful servant who demonstrated his fruit by his unalloyed willingness to obey God, even when God tested him by commanding him to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. Abraham obeyed without hesitation. And God made it clear that He blessed Abraham and his descendants because of his fruit of obedience. Genesis 26:2-5

In the world we are living in, there are pressures from family members, work, school mates, and friends for us to conform to worldly standards. This is especially in the appearance of our dressing code and adopting a worldly lifestyle. The only important question is this: do you succumb to these pressures and compromise your Christian faith, or do you uphold the high standards of a Christian conduct as a child of God? Romans 12:2

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus Christ, help me to resist all the pressures of this world so that I will continually bear fruit in Your name, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

REFLECTION:

MATTHEW 7:16 KJV: “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?”
