GOD’S DIVINE JUDGMENT (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Romans 2:5 (KJV) – “But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.”

INTRODUCTION: In Part one, we established that God is not only a God of love, but also a righteous Judge whose judgment is fiery and impartial. In continuation, we are reminded that delayed judgment does not mean denied judgment. God’s patience is not approval of sin but an opportunity for repentance. When mercy is repeatedly rejected, judgment becomes inevitable.

THE DANGER OF AN IMPENITENT HEART: One of the greatest dangers in the end-time Church is spiritual hardness. Many hear the truth but refuse to respond to it. An impenitent heart accumulates divine wrath, even while enjoying temporary comfort. Romans 2:11 – “For there is no respect of persons with God.”

God does not judge by title, church position, or years of service. He judges according to truth, obedience, and repentance.

GOD’S JUDGMENT BEGINS WITH HIS HOUSE: God holds His people to a higher standard. Judgment often begins among those who claim to know Him but live contrary to His Word. 1 Peter 4:17 – “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God.”

Grace abused becomes judgment activated.

THE ESCAPE ROUTE: REPENTANCE AND OBEDIENCE: God’s judgment is not announced to destroy but to warn and restore. True repentance turns judgment into mercy. Isaiah 55:7– “Let the wicked forsake his way… and he will have mercy upon him.”

Repentance is not emotion—it is transformation.

PRAYER:

O righteous Father, deliver me from spiritual hardness and self-deception. Let my heart remain tender before You, that I may walk in obedience and escape divine judgment, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Lamentations 3:40 – “Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD.”

N.B: Self-examination today prevents divine judgment tomorrow.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. O Lord my Father, deliver me from every hardened and unrepentant heart that stores up wrath against the day of judgment. Grant me a tender heart that trembles at Your Word, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

(Romans 2:5; Isaiah 66:2)

2. My Father and my God, uproot every form of hypocrisy, secret sin, and religious pretence in my life, that judgment will not begin with me, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

(1 Peter 4:17; Psalm 51:6)

3. My God and my maker, let Your mercy prevail over judgment in my life as I turn away from every sinful path and return fully to You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

(James 2:13; Isaiah 55:7)

4. O consuming fire, refine my life, purify my walk, and prepare me to stand blameless before You on the day of judgment, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen. (Malachi 3:3; Jude 1:24)
