DEALING WITH SIN AND FLESH IN THE ALTAR OF PRAYER

KEY TEXT: Romans 6:12 KJV – “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”

Beloved in Christ, this is not about me Apostle Emmanuel Osezele trying to put fear in you on what sin and flesh can do to one's soul. I believe you have seen through the Word of God that sin is a destroyer and the flesh is its doorway. Sin separates man from God, kills spiritual sensitivity, and opens the door to eternal death. The flesh, on the other hand, constantly wars against the Spirit, pushing us toward disobedience and carnality. But glory be to God—through Jesus Christ, we have victory over both sin and the flesh (Romans 6:14).

It is not only enough to understand sin and flesh; we must also war against them in prayer. The Word of God commands us to “mortify” (put to death) the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13), and this can only be achieved by the help of the Holy Spirit. Prayer gives us the strength to crucify the flesh daily, to resist sin, and to walk in the Spirit. Without prayer, the flesh rises, but with prayer, the Spirit dominates.

As you lift these prayer points, please do so with sincerity, humility, and determination. Ask the Lord to expose every hidden sin, destroy every stronghold of the flesh, and empower you to walk in holiness. Remember, victory is not by might nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord (Zechariah 4:6). If you pray earnestly, you shall surely walk in victory over sin and flesh, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

1. Lord Jesus Christ, give me understanding to see sin as You see it and to flee from it always, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

2. Father, deliver me from every secret sin and hidden iniquity in my life, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen

4. Holy Spirit of the Most High God, empower me to overcome every lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, and pride of life, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen

1 John 2:16 – “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

5. Lord Jesus Christ, let the power of sin be broken completely in my life through the blood of Jesus Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

Romans 6:14 – “For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.”

6. My heavenly Father, renew my mind daily so I may not conform to the desires of the flesh in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

Romans 12:2 – “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

7. Holy Spirit of God, strengthen me to walk in the Spirit and not fulfill the lust of the flesh, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

Galatians 5:16 – “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

8. Lord Jesus Christ, let every stronghold of sin in my life be pulled down by Your mighty power, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

2 Corinthians 10:4 – “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.”

9. My Father and my redeemer, purge me and make me a vessel unto honour, sanctified and fit for Your use, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2 Timothy 2:21 – “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.”

10. Lord Jesus, keep me watchful and sensitive so that sin and the flesh will not take me unawares, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

Matthew 26:41 – “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

11. My Lord and my God, help me to set my affection on things above and not on the things of the earth, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

Colossians 3:2 – “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

12. My heavenly Father, clothe me with the garment of righteousness and keep me blameless till Your coming, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:23 – “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

God Almighty will empower you henceforth to live in permanent dominion over sin and flesh, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
