BORN AGAIN — NOT ADJUSTMENT (PART 5)

KEY TEXT: Proverbs 4:23 KJV: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

GUARDING THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST: The new birth is a precious spiritual reality that must be guarded intentionally. While salvation is a gift, sustaining the new life requires vigilance and responsibility. The enemy constantly seeks to pull believers back into old patterns and habits, but the regenerated heart must be protected through the Word, prayer, and obedience. Guarding the heart preserves the life of Christ within. John 10:10; 1 Peter 5:8.

AVOIDING A RETURN TO ADJUSTMENT LIVING:

Many believers begin in the Spirit but gradually drift into self-effort and outward adjustment. When intimacy with God is neglected, the flesh attempts to take control again. To avoid this, believers must continually depend on the Holy Spirit, not on religious routines. True spiritual growth is sustained by daily surrender, not by occasional effort. Galatians 3:3; Romans 8:5–6.

CONTINUING IN NEWNESS OF LIFE: The Christian journey is sustained by consistency in the new life. As believers renew their minds with God’s Word and maintain fellowship with the Holy Spirit, they remain rooted in their new identity. Walking in newness of life is not a temporary phase but a lifelong calling that produces maturity, stability, and lasting fruit. Colossians 2:6–7; Romans 12:2.

PRAYER:

Father, I thank You for the gift of the new birth. Help me to guard the life You have placed within me. Keep my heart sensitive to Your voice, and help me to walk daily in dependence on the Holy Spirit. Preserve me from returning to old patterns or religious adjustment, and let my life continually reflect Your glory, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

REFLECTION:

Colossians 2:6 KJV: “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, help me to guard my heart diligently and preserve the new life You have given me in Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

2. Lord, deliver me from every tendency to return to self-effort and outward adjustment; teach me to depend fully on the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

3. Holy Spirit, strengthen me to resist old habits, patterns, and influences that threaten my new life in Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.

4. Father, help me to continue steadfastly in newness of life, growing in grace, maturity, and spiritual stability, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen

5. Lord, let my life remain a living testimony of true regeneration, bringing glory to Your name and drawing many to Christ, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name. Amen.
