BELIEVERS’ WATCHFULNESS (PART 3)

KEY TEXT: REVELATION 16:15 KJV – “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.”

In this final stage of the church, the focus is on readiness for Christ’s return and maintaining spiritual purity. The watchful believer guards not just their actions, but also their spiritual “garments”—symbolizing righteousness, holiness, and obedience. We live in a time where compromise is subtle, and many are spiritually asleep while appearing active.

ROMANS 13:11

Jesus warns that His return will be sudden. Only those who are watching and prepared will escape shame and be received into glory. This is not a time for lukewarm Christianity. This is the hour for repentance, consecration, and total commitment.

Watchfulness is not fear-driven but love-driven. The vigilant believer lives to please the Master, walking in reverence and readiness. Like the wise virgins in Matthew 25, we must keep our lamps burning with oil—full of the Holy Spirit and truth.

APPLICATION:

  • KEEP YOUR GARMENTS CLEAN: Avoid sin and worldliness. Daily examine yourself and repent quickly when you fall short.
  • LIVE IN EXPECTATION: Let every decision reflect the hope of Christ’s soon return. Don’t be caught unprepared.
  • STRENGTHEN OTHERS: Encourage fellow believers to stay awake spiritually. We are watchmen for one another.

“Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching…” —LUKE 12:37

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, clothe me in righteousness and keep my spirit awake for Your coming. May I never grow cold or complacent. Let me walk in holiness, help others to be ready, and finish strong in faith. In Your precious name I pray. Amen.

REFLECTION:

MATTHEW 24:42 –“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
