BELIEVER’S SELF-CHASTITY (PART 6)

KEY TEXT: 1 John 2:28 KJV: “And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.”

LIVING IN VIEW OF CHRIST’S RETURN: Self-chastity is sustained by the constant awareness that Jesus could return at any moment. The believer who lives in readiness will avoid actions, words, or thoughts that could bring shame at His appearing. Purity today is preparation for glory tomorrow. — Luke 12:37; 2 Peter 3:14

OVERCOMING SECRET SINS: Many lose self-chastity not in public, but in the secrecy of their private lives. God sees in secret, and the true measure of chastity is not just in what others see, but in what God knows. Victory over secret sins comes by confession, repentance, and walking in the light of God’s Word. — Psalm 19:12-13; 1 John 1:7

FINISHING WELL: The aim of self-chastity is not just to start pure, but to remain pure until the end. A believer who abandons purity along the way risks losing their crown. Let us run with patience, keeping our garments clean, so that on the final day, we will be welcomed into the joy of our Lord. — Revelation 16:15; 2 Timothy 4:7-8

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, help me to live every day in readiness for your coming, keeping myself pure in public and in secret, so I may finish my race with joy, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.
