BELIEVER’S SELF-CHASTITY (PART 4)

KEY TEXT: Romans 6:13 KJV: “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.”

YIELDING TO GOD, NOT SIN: Self-chastity is a daily choice of surrender. The believer must deliberately present their body, thoughts, and actions to God as tools for righteousness. To yield to sin is to allow the devil to use your vessel for destruction, but to yield to God is to live as one raised to new life in Christ. — Romans 12:1; Colossians 3:5

AVOIDING COMPROMISE: Many fall into sin, not through sudden moral collapse, but through gradual compromise. Self-chastity means recognising small cracks before they become spiritual collapses. A careless conversation, a questionable business deal, or an unchecked thought can open the door to impurity. Stay alert, for the devil works in subtlety. — Song of Solomon 2:15; 1 Peter 5:8

THE HOLY SPIRIT AS HELPER: No believer can maintain self-chastity on their own. The Spirit of God empowers us to say “No” to ungodliness and to walk in obedience. He gives discernment to avoid traps and strength to overcome weakness. Lean on Him daily for victory. — John 14:26; Galatians 5:22-23

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, I surrender my whole being to You. Help me to yield only to righteousness and never to sin, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

2 Timothy 2:21 KJV: “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.”
