BELIEVER’S SELF-CHASTITY (PART 2)

KEY TEXT: Proverbs 4:23 KJV: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.”

THE MIND AS THE FIRST BATTLEGROUND: Every act of impurity begins with a thought. Self-chastity starts with controlling what enters and stays in your mind. If the mind is filled with God’s Word, there will be no room for corrupt imaginations. Diligence in guarding your thoughts will protect you from actions that dishonour God. — 2 Corinthians 10:5; Philippians 4:8

THE POWER OF PERSONAL BOUNDARIES: A believer who wants to maintain self-chastity must set clear spiritual and moral boundaries. Samson’s fall came because he ignored the boundaries of his Nazarite calling. Refuse to go where temptation thrives, and avoid associations that weaken your resolve to live holy. — Amos 3:3; 1 Thessalonians 5:22

THE REWARD OF SELF-CONTROL: God honours those who discipline themselves for His sake. Self-chastity may feel costly now, but it carries eternal rewards. Like Daniel, choose to purpose in your heart that you will not defile yourself, and heaven will testify of your faithfulness. Self-control protects your testimony and positions you for divine promotion. — Daniel 1:8; Matthew 25:21

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, strengthen my spirit to set godly boundaries and keep my heart pure before You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

Titus 2:12 KJV: “Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.”
