SELF-CHASTITY THROUGH DISCIPLINE: Every true believer must learn the art of keeping themselves pure through self-discipline and self-control. The Apostle Paul declared that he kept his body under control, refusing to let his flesh rule over him. This is not self-punishment but self-governance, choosing to live within the boundaries of God’s Word. Without this personal chastity, one may preach to others yet end up disqualified. Self-chastity is proof that you are serious about your walk with Christ. 1 Corinthians 9:27

GUARDING AGAINST DEFILEMENT: The believer who desires to please God must constantly guard their heart, eyes, and thoughts against pollution. Self-chastity involves saying “No” to sin before it starts, avoiding environments and conversations that corrupt the spirit. Joseph kept himself pure by fleeing from Potiphar’s wife, choosing prison over sin. Purity is a choice, and maintaining it requires vigilance. Psalm 119:9; Genesis 39:9-12

SELF-CHASTITY FOR HOLINESS: Holiness is not automatic; it requires cooperation with the Holy Spirit in keeping the body, soul, and spirit unspotted from the world. The one who practices self-chastity refuses to indulge in lust, anger, pride, or any habit that defiles. Such a believer lives with eternity in view, understanding that no unclean thing shall enter God’s kingdom. 2 Corinthians 7:1; Revelation 21:27

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, give me grace to discipline myself and keep my heart, mind, and body pure before You, in Jesus Christ’s mighty name, Amen.

REFLECTION:

Proverbs 25:28 KJV: “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”
